Simple. Healthy. Hound-approved.

Homemade dog treats are a fun way to bond with your pup—and the best part is you control exactly what goes into them. These five easy recipes use simple, dog-safe ingredients and can be stored or frozen for later use. Perfect for adopters, fosters, or anyone looking to spoil their hound in a healthy way.

1. 3-Ingredient Banana Biscuits
For a quick and easy biscuit, mash one ripe banana and mix it with one cup of oat flour (or blended oats) and half a cup of natural, xylitol-free peanut butter. Roll out the dough and cut into shapes or scoop into small balls. Bake at 350°F for 15 to 20 minutes until firm. Store in an airtight container for up to 5–7 days or freeze for later.

2. Carrot & Oat Chews
These soft chews are perfect for teething puppies or gentle chewers. Mix one cup of grated carrot with one egg and one cup of rolled oats. Scoop spoonfuls onto a lined baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 20–25 minutes. Let cool before serving.

3. Sweet Potato Chews
This one-ingredient recipe is as simple as it gets. Slice a large sweet potato lengthwise into thin ¼-inch strips. Bake at 250°F for 2–3 hours, flipping halfway through. Let them cool completely—they’ll firm up as they dry. Store in the fridge for up to two weeks.

4. Frozen Yogurt Bites
Great for hot days or post-walk cooldowns, these frozen treats are made by mixing half a cup of plain Greek yogurt with a quarter cup of mashed fruit—such as banana, blueberries, or pumpkin. Spoon the mixture into silicone molds or ice cube trays and freeze until solid.

5. Meaty Kong Stuffing (No Bake)
For a long-lasting treat, combine half a cup of pure canned pumpkin (not pie filling) with a quarter cup of plain shredded chicken and one tablespoon of unsweetened peanut butter. Stuff the mixture into a Kong or similar hollow toy and freeze overnight. You can also layer in a bit of kibble for added fun.

Pro Tips: Always avoid dangerous ingredients like xylitol, grapes, raisins, onions, and chocolate. Introduce new treats in small amounts to check for allergies. For extra fun, use cookie cutters to shape dough or roll it into small bites for training rewards.
